Dr. Freed has received various awards for his community service and has participated in multiple volunteer projects overseas. He has performed plastic surgery mission work in both India and Africa. Dr. Freed is involved with an organization called Here4Them, a faith-based ministry that provides medical and humanitarian services for people in Ethiopia. Dr. Freed flies to Ethiopia each year to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries. He is a board member of Weimar Institute – a college and health center in the Sierra Nevada foothills. He is also a church elder at the Granite Bay Seventh-day Adventist church from which the ministry, Amazing Facts, broadcasts weekly around the world.
