What is a Mini Abdominoplasty (also known as a Mini Tummy Tuck)?
Weight loss, pregnancy and genetics are some of the reasons one may struggle with their abdominal area, and this can greatly affect their confidence and how they view themselves.
If you are unhappy with your abdominal contour, a mini tummy tuck or a full tummy tuck may be the answer. These procedures can restore a slimmer stomach and rebuild your confidence.
A mini abdominoplasty is not as extensive as a full abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. With a mini tummy tuck, excess skin below the navel is tightened by stitching up the loose skin. The skin and muscle that is addressed is only below the belly button area and so the belly button is not repositioned, and will stay in the same location.
Dr. Freed may at times include a small amount of upper abdominal liposuction, which will address the upper fat, however the tightening of the skin will not be addressed unless you have a full tummy tuck.
Am I a good candidate for a Mini Tummy Tuck?
An ideal patient is one who is in fairly good physical shape but has loose tissue in the lower abdomen and possibly some muscle separation as well.
Most women seeking rejuvenation of their tummies after pregnancy require a full tummy tuck in order to address recontouring of the entire abdominal wall and to ensure the best cosmetic results.
It is important to have a consult with Dr. Freed so that he may direct you into the most effective procedure. Your age, body type, skin condition and your desired results, will all play into the type of procedure that is best for you.
What will my tummy tuck scar look like?
The scar position is similar to a full tummy tuck, which is above the bikini line, it can be as long of an incision as a full abdominoplasty but is typically shorter.
What is the recovery like?
Recovery can vary based on your own physical health and how closely you follow the post operative instructions. It’s important that you schedule your surgery during a time that is not surrounded by an increased level of stress or excess busyness in your life.
Most of the time a mini tummy tuck requires 2 weeks of recovery. It is common to have bruising, swelling, and possible redness around the surgical site.
Even though a mini tummy tuck is less invasive than a full tummy tuck, you will still need to make sure you have strong support and help at home during your recovery time.
What is the cost of a Mini Tummy Tuck?
In order to have an accurate quote for a mini tummy tuck you must have a consultation with Dr. Freed. Until you have been evaluated by Dr. Freed, you will not know if you are a better candidate for a full tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck or even abdominal liposuction. However, at Freed Plastic Surgery the average cost for a mini tummy tuck (or mini abdominoplasty) is approximately $5,000
